My Acne Treatment Led To The Alter

Tips to Control Acne

Be Gentle
The first thing to remember to control acne is to be gentle with your face. Don’t wash your face with hot or cold water. Use lukewarm water and a mild cleanser twice a day, and following any physical activity. When you do work out, avoid regular soap and similar products which are filled with harsh cleansers and detergents. Wash you face gently in circular motions, and rinse thoroughly. Keep Your Hands Away from Your Skin

Having acne does not qualify a person to fully understand it. I will however do my best to explain what I have learned. Usually when you have your first outbreak you're told what it's not. I still read stress has a limited impact on acne development however, I know what I experience, and yes – if there are extreme challenges occurring in my life – an increased acne treatment regime is going to be necessary. So, now I'll try to define the condition a bit for you.

Acne is the commonly used name for pores clogged by sebum (oil, fat), pimples, nodules or cysts that can appear on the face, neck, shoulders, chest, back, upper arms and upper legs. Before our wedding, my chest needed attention, before my son's birth - it was my neck. Fortunately ClearPores made short work of both occurrences. Both teenagers and many adults suffer from acne for varying lengths of time. The condition is not confined to any age group, race, or sex. It affects hundreds of millions of people around the world. Types of Acne

Although pimples are by far the most common form of acne and the one most people suffer from, there are other forms as well. The simplest form is acne vulgaris, which features only comedones (blackheads/ whiteheads), the simplest of lesions. Lesions are small patches of skin affected by acne. Acne lesions are the external form of comedones, the sebaceous follicles plugged by excess sebum.

Comedones are known as blackheads or whiteheads, depending on whether the pore is open or not. Blackheads are pores whose distended openings are blocked by a mixture of keratin (an extremely strong protein which is a major component in skin, hair, nails) and sebum that is blackened at the surface. Whiteheads are closed pores filled with the secretion of the sebaceous gland that swells underneath the tissue. Comendones are the usual target for picking and squeezing. Papules are a small, solid usually inflammatory elevation of the skin that does not contain pus. Very small papules can also appear in clusters, due to the tissue’s response to acne.

Pustules are small inflamed elevations of the skin that are filled with pus. The pus is a combination of bacteria, white blood cells and dead skin cells. Pustules are usually formed around sebaceous follicles and hair.

Macula is a red spot on the skin left behind by an acne lesion. Maculae are flat, red and stand out against the surrounding skin. A group of maculae can give the face an inflamed appearance.

Nodules are a solid lesion, one of the most painful lesions caused by acne. Nodules can extend into the deeper layers of the skin and are known to lead to tissue destruction. They can be very painful to remove and leave scars behind. Nodular acne is a severe form of acne that is usually treated with isotretinonin (a substance obtained from Vitamin A).

Cysts are lesions which contain a semi-liquid pus similar to that found in pustules. However, cysts are larger than pustules and can become infected. Cysts also extend deeper into the skin and leave scar tissue behind. Nodulocystic acne is probably the most severe type of acne. It is very resistant to treatment but does respond to isotretinoin.
